The La Tania Ski Resort, sitting at 1400 metres above sea level is situated just to the side of Courchevel in the Three Valleys ski (les Trois Vallees) area of France.

As a family friendly resort you will need to look long and hard to beat La Tania. It’s got everything you’d need in close proximity. So finding adults and children’s ski lessons and ski instructors should pose no problem.

La Tania gives easy access the other 2 valleys (Meribel and Val Thorens, which make up the three valleys) via a new integrated lift system.

Our Favourite Runs

Green: The Plan Fontaine, takes you from the top of the La Tania bubble right back to La Tania village. The latest addition is a learner area at the top with a magic carpet, which is great for both adults’ and children’s ski lessons.

Blue:

top of the pile here is Folieres, which is also a go-to run when the weather closes in, as due to the close proximity of the trees, visibility remains good. Great for a bad weather ski or snowboard lesson.

From this point on, you can access both Meribel and Courchevel in a jiff, where you have enough run choice to leave you feeling like a kid in sweetie shop.

Ski Hire

A much under-rated part of a ski holiday. Having comfortable feet and skis that have been properly serviced prior to reaching you will make a huge difference to your holiday enjoyment. It will also make the difference to your ski lesson, being able to think about technique and not sore feet.

We recommend:

Skis Direct – owned by Jim, who is a BASI qualified ski instructor and knows his onions when it comes to skis and boots and how they should fit. Delivered to you, while you are enjoying your first G&T. You can of course queue up, if you like that kind of thing.

Getting there and away.

Airports.

There are several airports within a 2 hour drive from Courchevel with several carriers servicing those airports.

Geneva Airport is situated in Switzerland just 2 hours from Courchevel. Easyjet among others fly there from various U.K. airports.

Lyon Airport;

Grenoble Airport; and

Chambery Airport are all in France and are around 1.25 to 1.45 hours from Courchevel.

Transfers.

Getting to and from the airports is relatively simple as there transfer companies offering both private and shared transfers.

Eating Out.

La Tania’s top restaurant is Le Farcon, which holds a Michelin Star and does some fantastic food at pretty reasonable prices.

The Ski Lodge in La Tania serves good pub grub and Tim is usually on hand with a tall tale or two. It’s got a great sun terrace and we can think of worse places to while away an afternoon.

A step up is La Taiga (although not on the piste) which serves Savoyard fayre, meat and seafood and is especially popular in the evening.

On the mountain you can’t beat the Bouc Blanc, which is at the top of the La Tania bubble. Portions that would challenge Desperate Dan and reasonable prices for a mountain restaurant make it good value and the vista not too shabby. Put their Café Gourmand on your bucket list.
